In the evenings, fairy lights, candles and charcoal braziers set the tone for a warm and romantic atmosphere with a cozy indoor dining option complete with a wood-burning fireplace for the colder months.

A restaurant that has retained its tranquil setting in the heart of Westlands since 2005, About Thyme has become known for quality and consistency, offering imaginative and creative dishes inspired from around the world. Our menu will take you on an exciting culinary journey through Africa, Asia and Europe with dishes that are guaranteed to excite everyone. Made using locally sourced and sustainable ingredients, several of our dishes have become firm favorites among our customers over the years, with popular dishes like our ‘Tuna Tartar’, ‘Baked Camembert’, ‘Greek Moussaka’, ‘Pumpkin and Amaretti Tortellini’, ‘Chicken Pot Pie’ and ‘Kamba wa Kupaka’ being must tries. Desserts here are a special treat with our ‘Irresistible Sticky Date Pudding’ and ‘Peanut Butter Ice-Cream Pie' having a loyal following of their own. For the more adventurous, we have a specials menu that changes seasonally to ensure we keep you (and ourselves!) on your toes! A comprehensive wine list and extensive cocktail menu rounds off the experience.

Just like our namesake Thyme, our food is fresh and flavorful. We are open from Tuesday to Sunday serving lunch, dinner and weekend brunch and ready to welcome you to a unique, laid back and unpretentious dining experience.

I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed a meal so much

With most restaurants, it’s a combination of ambience, service, food and other things that make them stand out. As much as all these are present, the food at About Thyme is truly exceptional. From the portions to the plating and the flavours. I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed a meal that much. The attention to detail and the ease of reservation are definitely a plus.

The strawberry cheesecake might be the best thing I’ve ever tasted. I really recommend it. I had the passion dawa which I really enjoyed. I can’t wait to go back and try more cocktails.

Secret garden in the city! A stunning setting for a cozy restaurant, indoor and outdoor seating, both are relaxing and calming, I love the style of this restaurant, especially the garden seating.

The food was tasty!

The food was tasty (special mention of the Trio of desserts ☺️), but it was the ambiance and service that was absolutely on point for me. Shout out to Dola for really friendly and attentive service. The red wine sangria was also delicious- it has an amazing cinnamon infusion as well.
